“Zimbabwe’s unity government short lived” claims Mugabe

President Robert Mugabe has said Zimbabwe’s unity government is short-lived and he plans to regain his hold over the country he had ruled for nearly three decades.

Mugabe appeared triumphant after being re-elected to the leadership of his ZANU-PF party yesterday.

The party has been severely weakened after it lost its Parliamentary majority in last year’s contested elections.

The 85-year-old leader said the unity government has a short life and ZANU-PF must not be defeated as they were last year.

A new election date has not yet been set, but many observers fear that the build up will see the return of the violence that has marred many other polls.
