Sri Lanka to hold January election

Sri Lanka will hold elections at the end of January, Deputy Finance Minister Sarath Amunugama said on Thursday, after the government announced last month it would hold an election by April next year.

“The election will be held at the end of January. We are confident the president will win 70 percent of the votes,” Amunugama told Reuters in an interview in Singapore, on the sidelines of an investment roadshow.
