Socialists winning Greek election

Greece’s opposition Socialists have claimed victory over the governing conservatives in Sunday’s parliamentary elections.

Senior party official and former minister Evangelos Venizelos says the Socialists have won a “historic” victory over the scandal-battered conservatives.

With 15.36 of the votes counted nationwide, George Papandreou’s Socialists have 43.16 percent, compared to Prime Minister Costas Karamanlis’ 36.21 percent.
