Malawi: Mutharika Inauguration Tomorrow


President Bingu wa Mutharika will be inaugurated tomorrow as President of Malawi at Kamuzu Stadium.

Some delegates from outside Malawi are expected to start arriving this afternoon.

Meanwhile former president Bakili Muluzi has conceded defeat and he has announced that he will attend the inauguration ceremony.

But Malawi Congress Party (MCP) is disputing the results. However MCP president John Tembo refused to talk to the press.Latest results from Malawi Electoral Commission indicate that Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has won 50 seats out of the 79 constituencies where tabulation of results has been finalized.

Independent aspirants have scooped 11 seats while United Democratic Front (UDF) also has 11 seats.

Malawi Congress Party (MCP) has got 7 seats while MAFUNDE party has 1 seat. Petra, PPM, MPP and CODE have since scooped none.
