New survey shows voters in the April election will make their crosses along economic lines — and gains for COPE.

Richer South Africans are shifting away from the ANC, but the ruling party retains the loyalty of most blacks and most of the poor majority.

Results of a survey by Plus 94 Research suggested this week that overall support for the ANC would fall to 61% this year from 70% in the 2004 election.

The DA and COPE would be the big opposition winners at 16% and 15% respectively.
